Last updated 25 October 2026 · Effective 25 October 2026
The rules for using Wurd, in plain language. The short version: use Wurd for your own dictation, check what it writes before you send it, keep to the fair-use limits, and your words stay yours.
1. The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and 6amTech LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13996992, registered office 27 Old Gloucester Street, London WC1N 3AX, United Kingdom; “Wurd”, “we”, “us”) for using Wurd: the website wurd.ai, the web portal, and the Wurd apps and keyboards for Mac, Windows, Android and iPhone (together, “Wurd”). By creating an account or using Wurd, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use Wurd for an organisation, you confirm you can accept these terms for it.
2. What Wurd does
Wurd turns your speech into text (Dictate) or into text in another language (Translate) and puts it into the app you’re using. It needs an internet connection.
Wurd is in beta. Features may change, stop working or be removed, and we may limit who can use it. We work to keep it available but don’t promise it will always be.
3. Your account
- You sign in with Google or Apple. You must be at least 13 years old, or older where the law where you live requires it (up to 16 in some EEA countries).
- Each person gets one free trial. Creating extra accounts or devices to get more trials or more free words isn’t allowed.
- You’re responsible for what happens on your account and your devices. Sign out lost devices from the portal and tell us at support@wurd.ai if you see misuse.
4. Plans, limits and fair use
- New accounts start with a free trial of Pro for 14 days, up to 30,000 words, then move to the Free plan.
- The Free plan includes 2,000 words a week and up to 30 minutes of recording a day.
- Pro has no word limit for normal personal use, subject to fair use (currently 50,000 words a week) and a daily recording limit (currently 180 minutes).
- Weekly allowances reset every Monday at 00:00 UTC. The apps and the portal always show what you have left.
- We may change plan limits and features. A change that reduces what a paid plan includes takes effect at your next renewal, and we’ll tell you before it does.
- Wurd is for one person’s own dictation. We may warn about, slow down or limit unusual use, such as continuous recording with no speech, automated use, or one account shared by several people.
5. Paid plans and billing
Paid plans aren’t available yet, and nobody is charged during the beta. When they open, these terms apply:
- On the web and in the desktop apps, Stripe sells you the subscription as the merchant of record (Stripe Managed Payments). Stripe takes the payment, charges and pays the VAT or sales tax, sends your invoices and pays out refunds, and its checkout terms also apply to the purchase. We provide Wurd itself.
- In the iPhone and Android apps, you buy through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, under their terms. You manage and cancel those subscriptions, and ask for refunds, in your store account; we can’t refund store purchases ourselves.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; Pro then stays on until the end of the period you paid for and doesn’t renew.
- Prices are shown, with any tax, before you pay. If we change the price of an existing subscription, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
- Refunds for web and desktop purchases: if Wurd isn’t for you, write to support@wurd.ai within 14 days of your first payment and we’ll refund it in full. After that we look at each request. Refunds go back through Stripe to the way you paid, and can be made up to 60 days after a payment.
- The 14-day full refund also covers the legal right to cancel that consumers in the UK and the EU have when they start a subscription.
6. Your content
Your recordings, transcripts, the text Wurd writes for you, your dictionary, snippets and messages to us are your content. You keep all rights to it.
You allow us to process your content only to run Wurd for you, keep it secure and help you when you ask, including sending it to the providers named in the Privacy Policy. We don’t use your content to train AI models. If you include a dictation in a feedback report, we may read it to fix the problem.
You’re responsible for having the right to record and transcribe what you dictate. Don’t record other people without the consent the law requires where you are.
7. Check AI output before you rely on it
Wurd uses speech recognition and AI models, which can mishear words, mistranslate, or punctuate wrongly. Wurd checks numbers and length and won’t knowingly add content you didn’t say, but it can still make mistakes.
Read what Wurd writes before you send it, especially for medical, legal, financial or safety-critical messages. You’re responsible for what you send. Wurd writes down what you say; it doesn’t answer questions or give advice.
8. Acceptable use
Don’t use Wurd to:
- break the law or anyone’s rights, or create unlawful, harassing or defamatory content;
- record or capture another person’s speech or typing without their knowledge, including by installing Wurd on a device you don’t own or control;
- get into other people’s accounts or devices, or get around plan limits, trials, rate limits or security;
- copy, reverse engineer, scrape, resell, or offer Wurd as a service to others without our written permission;
- build or train a competing speech or AI product with Wurd or its output;
- overload Wurd, automate it, or send malware.
9. The apps, permissions and updates
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Wurd apps while you have an account, under these terms. Wurd and its software, design and brand remain ours.
The apps need some permissions to work: the microphone; on Mac, Accessibility (to notice the hotkey and paste the text); on Android, the Wurd keyboard and, for the bubble, display over other apps; on iPhone, Full Access for the keyboard. We use them only for the features they’re there for.
The desktop apps update themselves. Older versions may stop working when a newer minimum version is required. Beta builds (for example through TestFlight or a direct Android download) may be less stable.
10. Other services
Wurd depends on other companies’ services, including Google, Apple, ElevenLabs, OpenRouter and the AI model providers, and later Stripe and RevenueCat. Their outages can affect Wurd, and their own terms apply where you use them directly (for example Google or Apple sign-in and the app stores).
11. Ideas and feedback
If you send us suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything. Thank you.
12. Suspension and ending
You can stop using Wurd and delete your account at any time from the portal. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or when the law requires it. Where reasonable we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.
The sections on your content, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and governing law continue after your account ends.
13. Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, Wurd is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including that it will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can’t be limited by contract.
14. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit, and consumers keep their statutory rights (for example under the Consumer Rights Act 2015). Apart from that, we aren’t liable for losses that weren’t reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses such as lost profits, revenue or data, and our total liability for any claim about Wurd is limited to the greater of what you paid for Wurd in the 12 months before the claim and £50.
15. Indemnity
If you use Wurd in breach of these terms or the law and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you’ll cover our reasonable costs of that claim, where the law allows.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear disputes about them. If you’re a consumer living in Scotland, Northern Ireland or the EU, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts, and you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws where you live.
Before starting a formal dispute, please write to support@wurd.ai so we can try to solve it within 30 days.
17. Changes to Wurd and these terms
We may change Wurd and these terms. For changes that matter, we’ll tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using Wurd after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, stop using Wurd and delete your account.
18. If you got Wurd from the App Store
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for the Wurd app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the app’s purchase price, if any. Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- Apple isn’t responsible for claims about the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection or intellectual property claims; we handle those as these terms describe.
- You confirm you’re not in a country under a U.S. embargo and not on a U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your carrier’s.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
19. General
- These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Wurd.
- If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term isn’t a waiver of it.
- You can’t transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- We aren’t responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- We send notices to your account’s email address or in the app. The English version of these terms is the one that applies.
